Rock Around the Clock
Hunt & Gather - Covered In Space

Nine of your favorite pop hits from the past covered by synth-loving, space-age aliens. This group ranges from 1972 to today, but with the lazer effects and crazy vocals, they sound like they’re all from the year 3030. Do the download here and transport yourself back to the future.
Selections include…
  • Rockets - Canned Heat’s “On The Road Again”
  • Discovery - Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back”
  • Hecuba - Randy Newman’s “Baltimore”
  • Chromatics - Del Shannon’s “The Wanderer”
  • The Common People - Beatles’ “Here There and Everywhere”
  • Zaz - Beatles’ “Eleanor Rigby”
  • Summer Camp - Flamingos’ “I Only Have Eyes for You”
  • Telex - Billy Haley’s “Rock Around the Clock”
  • Of Verona - Shirelles’ “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow”

Los Saicos

Demolicion
Los Saicos

It wasn’t until the mid-70’s that the punk movement got some (likely unwanted) credibility, but ten years before The Ramones, Clash, and Sex Pistols, and five years before MC5 and The Stooges, these wild rockers were paving the way.

  • Del-Vetts “Last Time Around”
  • Jesters of Newport “Stormy”
  • Dean Carter “Jailhouse Rock”
  • Alex Harvey “Shakin’ All Over”
  • Los Saicos “Demolicion”
  • Love “Seven and Seven Is”
  • Keggs “To Find Out”
  • Bunker Hill “The Girl Can’t Dance”
All the elements were already in place - simple and maniacal guitar thrashing, vocals drenched in whiskey and strychnine, and a heavy dose of fuck off. A couple of my favorites here are “Demolicion,” which somehow comes from Peru and seems like it has a good sense of humor, and Bunker Hill’s possessed R&B punk number “The Girl Can’t Dance.”

Don't Tell Me
Future Sex Love GEMS

future sex love sounds…

… not of the justin timberlake variety.
more like the sultry space-age stuff that’s been popping up in the past few years, dripping with eerie distortion and heavy beckoning sensual sighs.
after future androids gain a mastery of human emotion and perfect the art of music, these are the songs they will listen to while they make android babies.

You Don't Have to Worry

Have you ever found yourself solo slow-dancing in a strange place long after midnight? Well, then, you know it’s not nearly as bad as it sounds. This group of tunes is made for those moments… driving aimlessly along your childhood streets, helping a friend manually brush their teeth, being the first or last person at the bar. The music mixes romance and loneliness, mystery and comfort, the familiar with the bizarre. Find your late-night strange place and enjoy.

Gerard McMann

Cry Little Sister
The Lost Boys Soundtrack

serial killer flicks usually use at least one great pop song. for example…
  • enya “sail away” - from the recent ‘girl with the dragon tattoo’
  • q lazzarus “goodbye horses” - the godmother of all serial killer theme songs from ‘silence of the lambs’ infamous tuck job scene
  • gerard mcmann (cool name dude) “lost boys theme” - vampires are serial killers too
  • donovan “hurdy gurdy man” - another contribution from fincher, from his slow-burner ‘zodiac’
what are your favorites?
